art. music. fashion.

Frida and Diego are my dysfunctional grandparents. Eddie Vedder and Catherine Malandrino are my step parents.

I’ve always been surrounded by art. I started going to art shows while I was in high school. I loved the women with the crazy gray hair and long flowy skirts; the hipster kids who snuck in for the wine and cheap beer. Sounds of pulsing electronic beats or spanish boleros- depending on the local (west la or highland park).

The art world combines all three of my passions. Art doesn’t just hang on a wall. It’s in what you wear and what’s blasting from your iPod.

I’ve always wanted to cover shows. Take pictures and interview artists. Have a reason for drinking their wine.

There’s more to shows than the art on the walls. What often spurs my interest are the labels (or lackthereof) that the crowd is adorning. Suede Prada booties and vintage snakeskin cowboy boots. Shows are a fashion free-for-all. Anything goes.

Music is just as important. Sometimes there’s a pricey DJ; sometimes there’s an old boom box. Art and music are intertwined.

I would bring a fresh, young perspective to art blogging. It would be a guide as to what shows you should stop-by and what shows you can miss. What everyone was wearing and what the collection was like. Most importantly- it would be fun.
